One of the most popular long white sandy beaches on Points East Coastal Drive, the Panmure causeway has water access on both sides. Visitors will experience a long white sandy ocean beach with pristine grass-topped sand dunes providing seclusion and vast views of the ocean. On the St. Mary’s Bay side of the causeway, sheltered red sandy shores provide swimming, clam digging and a view of mussel beds in the bay. Change rooms, convenience store. Facilities. Supervised.
The 100-acre campground park offers lifeguards, laundromat, hot showers, flush toilets, kitchen shelters, fireplaces, supply store, dumping station, look-out tower, change rooms, canteen, boat launching.
The First Nations People hold an annual Pow Wow at Panmure Island in August. This spiritual/cultural event includes drum bands, native crafts and a healing sweat tent.
The Panmure Island Lighthouse, the Island’s oldest wooden lighthouse, sits at the end of the causeway and is open to visitors. Climb the tower for spectacular views.
