In preparation for his next special, Newfoundland born Matt Wright performs his new hour of stand up comedy on technology, travelling with a baby, and everything in between. He is a writer and actor as well as a well-known Canadian comedian. He has appeared on Just For Laughs, CBC, and CTV as well as opened for John Mulaney, Jerry Seinfeld, Martin Short, and Theo Von. Matt wrote for six seasons of This Hour Has 22 Minutes and his film short, “Snowstorm Roulette” was nominated for Best International Short at the Austin Comedy Festival.

Heidi Brander is also a Canadian comedian and award-winning writer for This Hour Has 22 Minutes. She has written for several TV series and made appearances on 22 Minutes, Entertainment Tonight Canada, and MTV Live. A fixture on the Toronto comedy scene, Heidi has also performed at the Halifax Pop Explosion, the Hubcap Comedy Festival. and the Boston Women in Comedy Festival.

This isn’t just another tour date—it’s a rare, full-band reunion of blues heavyweights. Garrett Mason, Keith Hallett, Rhéo Rochon Jr. and Chuck Bucket – each well-known Canadian musicians – are hitting the stage together for an extremely limited run of shows, and we are incredibly lucky to have them for their only Prince Edward Island performance.

Long before they became icons of the scene, these four were true road warriors—touring coast to coast, packed into old vans with vintage guitars and a shared obsession with the blues. After carving out their own paths, the road has finally brought them back together on the same stage.

Expect a masterclass in grit and soul as they blend old-school blues with psychedelic rhythm rock n’ roll. It’s the heartbeat of our Friday night lineup.

Friday’s show opens with Mama’s Broke – a world-touring powerhouse duo that defies the boundaries of traditional folk. Based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Amy Lou Keeler and Lisa Maria Bates are multi-instrumentalists to the core. The duo moves seamlessly between fiddle, banjo, guitar, and mandolin, underpinned by foot percussion and soaring, telepathic vocal harmonies. Their music isn’t just a collection of songs; it’s a masterclass in atmospheric arrangement, seamlessly blending the driving rhythms of Appalachian old-time with the haunting, minor-key textures of Eastern European folk.

With two critically acclaimed albums—including the JUNO-nominated Narrow Line—Mama’s Broke has earned a global reputation for their compelling, high-intensity live shows. Their music is a testament to the power of the folk tradition when it is stripped to its bones and rebuilt for a modern, changing world.

The night begins with an opening reception on the outdoor deck, with food and drinks (government issued ID required for alcohol) from local vendors, and the sweet piano sounds from Paulina Cooper with our spotlight on Holland College’s (PEI) School of Performing Arts.

Back again in 2026 is the (pay what you can) Family Friendly event for all ages – happening this year on the back deck at the Kings Playhouse with live music (Charlie A’Court, Steve Somers and the Redwing Blackbirds, and Hello Mischief), hand drumming workshops, a Kids’ Zone, the ever-popular tie dye table, and topping it off with local food and drinks. Family Day has plenty of activities for kids of all ages.

You are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets to sit on for Family Day (August 15 at Kings Playhouse)

Big vocals, heartfelt nerdy stories, stylish fiddle sets, wicked piano, and fine step-dancing: The fruit of several generations of Ross and Arsenault values, talents, languages, and hardship.

The group desires to preserve and play with their centuries-old PEI heritage, as well as contemporary folk influences. Add in these music lovers’ varied tastes and there lays the foundation for their original music. Songwriting that tends to reflect on how our roots, our home, our people shape us.

Even after twenty years of performance, the bright stage lights have not blinded the Ross Family from truly seeing those who support and connect with their art. Art that is often described as uplifting and emotionally stirring, full-circle and full-sounding, with sincere depth and goofiness. In other words, love.
