Are you looking for an opportunity to help care for nature? Join us for a morning of grass planting on the dunes of the Nature Conservancy of Canada’s (NCC’s) St. Peters Lake Run Nature Reserve.
The north shore of PEI is known for its iconic sand dunes, which help buffer storm impacts on our coastal communities. Marram grass has root systems that help hold sand in place. The grass grows naturally on PEI’s dune systems, but sometimes it needs a bit of help to stay strong.
This event will give volunteers an opportunity to get their hands dirty with hands-on conservation work. By planting in areas that have been worn away by storms and human activity, we can help this slow-growing plant bounce back and continue stabilizing vulnerable areas on the dunes.
Pre-registration for this event is required.
Additional event details, including driving directions and parking instructions, will be provided closer to the event day. Please come prepared for the weather.
All local health and safety restrictions and guidelines will apply.
