Tim Chaisson plays guitar, fiddle, mandolin, banjo and piano and he’s a lead vocalist. With so much to offer, no wonder he enjoys collaborating with others, including supporting alt-rock legends the Goo Goo Dolls and a spot at the Mariposa Folk Festival covering the one-and-only Gordon Lightfoot under the approving gaze of Lightfoot himself. But nowhere is he more at home collaborating in his music with his Eastern PEI clan – the Chaissons.
The Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival – This festival is a trad music festival that my grandfather started in 1976 to revitalize fiddle and folk traditions on PEI. Every third weekend of July, music lovers from all over the globe gather at the Rollo Bay festival grounds for non-stop tunes, songs, sessions, square dancing and an all-around good time. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself in the 'tuning room' at 3 a.m. on the Saturday night of the celebrations, swinging arms (with your new best friend) to the jigs and reels that can be heard throughout the grounds, all through the woods, and down to the beach. You won’t regret coming!
St. Margarets Beach – When I’m not touring in the summer, my wife and I basically live out of our 1978 Dodge FunCraft. It’s the best way to explore the island freely. One of our favourite places to chill out is on the cliff at St Margarets Beach, listening to the ocean and basking in the beauty of the sky just after sunset. Amazing.
East Point Lighthouse – If you’re an early riser, head up to the East Point Lighthouse and watch the sun rise. It’s incredible (and it’s the first place you’ll see the sun rise on the Island).
