Description:

 An annual event that sees over 20 farms open their doors to the public, providing fun and interactive ways to learn about life on a farm.

STEERMAN'S QUALITY MEATS

Description: We finish beef cattle which are sold through our meat shop or to Atlantic Beef Products plant. Chickens and turkeys are sold locally to households, restaurants, and co-op stores.

WATTS TREE FARM

Description: Visitors will learn first-hand the process of growing cultivated fir and pine Christmas trees. The Christmas tree lot covers approximately 2 ha (5 ac) of the 40 ha (100 ac) woodlot. There will also be information regarding integrated forest management which includes the needs of wildlife, recreational uses of the woodlot and other forest products.
Items For Sale: Hand Turned wood pens will be available for explanation and purchase.

Activities: Brief Christmas tree shearing demonstration and explanation; display of hand turned pens made from woods gathered from the woodlot.

ROSSIGNOL ESTATE WINERY

Description: Started in 1990, with the first harvest and production in 1994, this 20 acre property in Little Sands this winery refrains from using pesticides and operates as an ecologically friendly vineyard in strip crop fashion. Grapes are grown with ample green space between the rows and they use pure oak barrels for traditional barrel aging for many of their wines. Come tour the vineyard and see the stainless steel vats, fruit presses, and oak barrels used in the various steps of small-batch artisan wine production. The winery has a 45,000 bottle capacity and produces a variety of premium fruit and table wines, sourced from local produce.

GOLDEN BAY DAIRY

Description: We have a wolf structure barn from Germany with perimeter feeding. Two Lely robots and a Juno feed pusher. We crop 500 acres (barley, corn and soybeans) as well as alfalfa and clover. We farm 700 acres and raise our own replacement heifers.

ROLLO BAY HOLDINGS LTD.

Farm Hours: 2 guided tours: at 12pm and 2pm

Description: Presently, the company farms a significant acreage of land located in Eastern Prince Edward Island. This land is worked on a three or four year crop rotation of barley, hay, a plow down mixture and the principal crop, potatoes. In 1993, the facility commenced operation under the name Rollo Bay Holdings Ltd. Over the past few years the company has grown considerably and Rollo Bay Holdings is one of the largest agricultural entities in Eastern PEI.
